Fundamentals & Theory of Interior Design
In this module students learn to evaluate the fundamental components of design and specifically how they work together to create successful interior designs. Understanding how the organisation of various components relate to the effectiveness of the completed interior, will enable students to apply this knowledge in the development of their own designs achieving balance and harmony, and to manipulate components to accomplish special effects.
This module provides a framework in which students explore how people interact with interior space and how the interior environment influences the emotional and physical health & well-being of human occupants. Students must determine the key factors when designing spatial layouts and apply them in context by creating interior designs that support and nurture the various needs of its human occupants.
Computer Aided Drafting and Designing
Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) software has now become a standard design tool in architectural offices and the ability to use and work with CAD drawings produced in industry standard software programs is of considerable importance to interior designers.
AutoCAD is a standard software program that is commonly used by many architectural and large interior design firms. The aim of this module is to enable students to gain sufficient skill and ability using AutoCAD software so that they can fully integrate CAD into the design process when producing 2D drawings and presentations.
Achieving the right colour balance is central to any successful interior design scheme, as even the most expensive materials will look cheap and garish if the colours are clashing. Although society greatly admires those who are naturally creative with colour, the ability to use colour is a skill that everyone can learn and there are simple (yet powerful) tools and techniques that successful designers use to create winning colour combinations time and time again.
What is Design Visualization?
Design Visualization is used in industries such as Engineering, Architecture, Interior Designing, Entertainment & Manufacturing. Visualization plays a big role at every stage in these industries. Exploring complex organic forms, studying how light interacts with the design, and validating a design for planning & public outreach are some of those.
Interior Designing came into prominence only in the last few years. At present people have become more conscious about the design, layout and execution of their interiors, for offices, factories as well as residence. This has opened the door for a large number of professional designers.
Our course addresses all aspects of Design, from the understanding of space and structures to the manipulation of colors, texture, light, form etc. as well as providing the requisite technical knowledge and skills to realize visualized intent. If you plan to make your career as Interior Designer , this course covers all required knowledge.
There are innumerable career opportunities of working with established Interior Designers and Architects. One can also work as Specialists or Consultants for Exhibitions/ Museums. Those with an entrepreneurial streak may set up their own Interior Design Firm or even an Event Management company or Production Design House.
On completion of this course, you can work in following area :
Interior and Exterior Visualization
Construction & Real Estate
Engineering & Manufacturing
